Bio 20 RiverWatch Field Trip
Posted on September 24th, 2018
On Wednesday, September 19th Biology 20 students enjoyed a day of field study participating in RiverWatch! The focus of the outing was to determine the environmental health of the North Saskatchewan River by comparing conditions above and below the EPCOR Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant. Students got to paddle rafts down the river while stopping along two selected shore-line locations to collect scientific data where they were able to form their own conclusions on the condition of the river. They then headed on to tour the wastewater treatment facility. The RiverWatch day program helps bring awareness to the personal impact each of us have on Alberta’s water supply. A great day was spent in an outdoor classroom!
